Moving back to Vehicles, we have to note the inclusion of the Big Guns Never Tire rule. In fact, every tank has increased in cost, including the Dunecrawler, Dunerider and Disintergrator. The same is true now, however, that Character must also be within 3” of a unit with either 3 or more models or a model that has the Vehicle or Monster keyword. Are things as “doom and gloom” for the Adeptus Mechanicus as our initial pass in our Munitorum Field Manual review seemed to indicate? They seemed like kind of a lot of points for not a lot of guns or wounds and to keep their defensive properties they could not really hang out in the big Cawl bubble. You roll a D6 for every model left in the unit, and on a roll of a 1, a model flees. Coteaz helps keep the Breachers in play and helps out with counter charges while the Drill and Ster-ganil (Kyg-ern?) Clocking in at 150 points and providing 12 shots and 2 lascannons on a platform that can move far and double pivot seems like a real winner. With the release of the ninth edition of the tabletop game just around the corner, it is a great time to give another Warhammer 40k game a review. They were already a borderline unit and with priests having access to transports and the Serberys being able to occupy a similar role I do not think they will see much play. Here’s our list. I’m a big fan of bunching my units around Cawl and making the most of all the re-rolls, but I won’t be alone in needing to change up the way I play, as it’s going to be easier for your opponent to duck and cover from your static gunline. Building multiple attachments to gain more CP with the Adeptus Mechanicus was not much of an issue in 8th thanks to the cheap troops units at our disposal in the form of Skitarii Rangers and Vanguard. With all the changes, the new army FAQ and new points costs I wanted to have a look at my favourite Warhammer 40k army, the Adeptus Mechanicus (also known as the Ad Mech), and see how they may change going forward. In 9th edition this is staple unit for holding objective for a turn, something that Skitarii realistically cannot do. Let us not also forget the Ironstrider Ballistarii armed with Autocannons! Adeptus Mechanicus Battalion Detachment (1,997) Forge World: Mars, Troops: 5x Skitarii Vanguard Troops: 5x Skitarii Vanguard Troops: 8x Arc Breachers, FA: 5x Ironstrider, Autocannons FA: 7x Serberys Raiders FA: 7x Serberys Raiders. Let’s break down the Force Organization slots, put it all together, check out the “free” Imperium options, and see if we can squeeze out a couple lists that feel alright. Young Andrew, wide-eyed and full of wonder, was flipping through Games Workshop’s site, looking at all their nifty models. This is to reduce the size of most armies, as they felt in some cases armies were too large. Keeping your squads at minimum sizes avoids this. It is within their power to unleash the most arcane weaponry in the Imperium, and they do so without mercy. A big change is the terrain, in both rules and the number of terrain you should be having on the battlefield. Let’s take a look at the changes in points for this unit, taking a look in particular at the triple Heavy Phosphor loadout: Kastelan Robot 65ptsHeavy Phosphor Blaster 15pts EachTotal Cost: 110pts, Kastelan Robot 80ptsPhosphor Blaster 15ptsTotal Cost 125pts. I liked the idea of having some Imperial Knights and the Adeptus Mechanicus units ended up being a nice thematic companion force to give the overall army a wider range of units. The introduction of the new Ad Mech units filled a gap in the army composition, and with the focus on getting armies moving across the battlefield, without the new additions, this could have caused a problem for Mechanicus players in certain scenarios. I do see blobs of Breachers, Ironstriders, Raiders, and Kastelans running around causing problems with drills coming up in backfields being a downtown threat. 2000pts and all new points values for Warhammer 40K 9th Edition! The release of the book saw a lot of new and powerful content for the Ad Mech, including superb Warlord traits and new stratagems. A Dominus or Cawl, with either/or of Manipulus or Daedalosus will still be very common, with the Enginseer being the cheap slot filler choice. Whilst the Morale test is pretty much the same in regards to adding the number of models that died in the previous turn with a roll of a D6 then comparing it to the units leadership, you now only lose the one model, regardless of how big the difference in value is between the combined dice roll and casualties to the units leadership. In addition, they could not negate the hit penalty from moving and shooting. The Fusilave and Transvector also can be built from the same kit, so they have that going for them, I guess. This allows our vehicles to fire in combat, helping us to fight back against those units that would look to tie down our tanks in combat. DESTORY DESTROY DESTORY. Now you can still use those strats, but instead of putting the BS back to 4+ you’ll be going up to 3+. The best way of looking at the points changes is comparing a 1k list I wrote for 8th Edition with the updated points changes: Kataphron Destroyers (With Plasma & Cognis Flamer)Skitarii Rangers (5 man with 1 x Arc Rifle)Skitarii Vanguard (5 man with 1 Plasma), Sicarian Infiltrators (With Tasers and Flechette)Serberys Raiders (3 man unit with Data Tether)Sydonian Dragoon, Kastelan Robots (2 Robots, with triple Heavy Phosphor Blasters)Onager Dunecrawler (With Neutron Laser and extra Stubber), 8th Edition Costs 993pts9th Edition Costs 1175pts. Keep them below 6 count and they will give you relatively cheap and tough scoring unit that is needed sorely in new reality of war. Moustache-twirling Princeps Clocking in at 150 (up from 111) the Disintergrator which three of each was a staple of Admech list design now feels almost unplayable. Adeptus Mechanicus in 9th Edition Natfka 6/21/2020 One of my favorite armies that I do not have yet, its time to look at the Adeptus Mechanicus. This is due to Mars being my favourite of the Forge Worlds, and all my models are painted in the Mars scheme. It does provide indirect shooting that Admech otherwise lacks but its indirect shooting is not that good for what it is. What you can do however, is when choosing your targets to shoot, select a different target outside of the combat you are in, to shoot at with your Blast weapon. Vanguard and Rangers both went up to 9ppm. In 9th it is jumping up to 115pts. Let’s travel back to a simpler time: early 2018. This provides a massive boon to one of, in my opinion, strongest units in our book, the Kastelan Robots, more precisely, the ones armed with triple Heavy Phosphor Blasters. The Archaeopter in all of its flavours allows you to pivot twice when moving, which does reduce the worry about running out of space on the board, but it still makes life a little awkward. This list gives up any pretense of hidden melee threats or real any subtlety and just puts drills and a Cawl Castle on the table on the table and expects you do deal with it. The Archaeopters are also a new addition to the AdMech arsenal in Engine War and my initial response to them was tepid. Meanwhile the blobs of Raiders, Ironstriders and Arc Breachers fill up the table shooting everything that is in LOS. Importantly, since the Dragoons come equipped with the broad spectrum data-tether, each hit of a 4+ will do 3 hits. These units will never fear flying off the edge of the board unless they want to. In case you missed it, a pair of new Necron and Space Marine codexes are on the way with a release in October. This all changed when they became the focus of Psychic Awakening: Engine War. Or if you’re a patron, head on over to our Discord server and shoot us a message and we’ll be happy to respond. SN Members Nick and Chris both test out new 2000pt lists with Chris bringing some newly painted units to the battlefield. In fact, the Disintergrator has jumped up a fair amount. If your unit is below half the starting strength (so under 3 models in a 5 man squad, or under 5 models in a 10 man squad) a roll of a 1 or 2 results in another model fleeing. Victory points and securing objectives I feel will be much more important than grabbing as many kills as possible. Imperial Knights, Astra Militarum and Adeptus Mechanicus: 9th Edition Featuring the Knight Houses of Draconis III and their household retinues, the Draconian Armored Defenders Astra Militarum regiments, and the Skitarii maniples, Cybernetica Cohorts and Titan Legions of the Adeptus Mechanicus forge world, Draconis IV. Again, a unit that comes out of this very strong is the Kastelans. 40k 9th edition Adeptus Mechanicus AdMech competitive play faction focus featured Imperium Tactics Warhammer 40k, ©  2020 Goonhammer. em_en_oh_pee. Dudes jumping out of rides with plasma can still happen and be aggressively point efficient (65 points for 2 18” assault plasma guns is a steal), but unfortunately that parade may have been postponed due to rain in transport land. The Raiders are very good but are not the most dangerous so grabbing the midfield could be difficult. Another boon to having a larger troops unit is to protect your Character models. 40K: Power Ranking Every Faction in 9th Edition – Chapter Tactics Pablo Martinez 2 Minute Read July 30 Today Peteypab brings you all a way too early power rankings of all the 40k factions. 199. SN Battle Reports proudly presents World Eaters vs Adeptus Mechanicus! This may tempt you to build bigger squads. If you don’t clear the chaff, then you can’t fire your Blast weapon. ( Log Out /  In 9th the changes to Heavy weapons takes away the need of that rule on the datasheets for tanks such as the Dunecrawler, as every Vehicle and Monster keyword model can move and fire without penalty. You can read my review of the book here. However, like with the Rangers and Vanguard, a cheap ride is what really made these guys sing, and again I will cover that in a bit. Andrew: The Adeptus Mechanicus have a lot to look forward to in the new edition. It looks bleak with the main chasis going up 45 points, but the guns got discounted so the net is only up 15 (115 total) for the Icaraus array and 23 (140) for the Neutron laser. Given that the AdMech Fast Attack slot is suddenly very crowded, I would not be surprised if these guys do not always find their way onto the table. This means, unless you are right up against the terrain piece or within it, you cannot shoot through it. That D6 tank that wants to shoot your max unit strength could find it a lot easier to thin your numbers. Pop the Protector Doctrina Imperative strat however, and this will counteract the -1 to hit, bringing you back to your base BS, and then adding a further +1 making you +1 to hit.
